#385 Fifty Fifty Eclipse 2011 Brandy Barrel Blend

Fifty Fifty Eclipse 2011 Brandy Barrel Blend. An American Double/ Imperial Stout. 9.5% ABV 75 IBU.

SMELL:  Chocolate, malt, sugar, wood, and brandy.

TASTE:  Strong chocolate, brandy, malt, and wood tones.

DRINK-ABILITY: A excellent stout. This beer is super thick and you can really taste the fact that this beer was aged in a brandy barrel for 180 days. It is super balanced and has the wood and alcohol flavors of a fine brandy but not enough to overpower the roasted malt, chocolate, and espresso flavors that you expect in a great stout. I was lucky enough to get this bottle and the rest of the 5 different types of this beer (  Elijah Craig 20 year Barrel , Four Roses Single Barrel,  Elijah Craig 12 year Barrel , Rye, and Brewmaster’s Grand Cru Blend ) from Trenton Road Takeout, they still have a couple bottles left of this great beer series if you would like to try it.

RATING:   9 out of 10.

It is super balanced and has the wood and alcohol flavors of a fine bourbon but not enough to overpower the roasted malt, chocolate, and espresso flavors that you expect in a great stout. I was lucky enough to get this bottle and the rest of the 5 different types of this beer (  Elijah Craig 20 year Barrel ,  Elijah Craig 12 year Barrel ,  Brandy Barrel Blend, Rye, and Brewmaster’s Grand Cru Blend ) from Trenton Road Takeout, they still have a couple bottles left of this great beer series if you would like to try it.

#346 Fifty Fifty Eclipse 2011 Elijah Craig 12 Year Barrel

Fifty Fifty Eclipse 2011 Elijah Craig 12 Year Barrel.  An American Double/ Imperial Stout. 9.5% ABV 75 IBU.

SMELL:  Chocolate, malt, sugar, wood, and bourbon.

TASTE:  Strong chocolate, bourbon, malt, and wood tones.

DRINK-ABILITY: A excellent stout. This beer is super thick and you can really taste the fact that this beer was aged in a 12 year old bourbon barrel for 180 days. It is super balanced and has the wood and alcohol flavors of a fine bourbon but not enough to overpower the roasted malt, chocolate, and espresso flavors that you expect in a great stout. I have also tried the Fifty Fifty Elijah Craig 20 year and I prefer the Elijah Craig 12 year. The 12 year is just a little more blended tastes with a little less bourbon back. I was lucky enough to get this bottle and the rest of the 5 different types of this beer (  Elijah Craig 20 year Barrel , Four Roses Single Barrel,  Rittenhouse Rye Barrel,  Brandy Barrel Blend, and Brewmaster’s Grand Cru Blend ) from Trenton Road Takeout, they still have a couple bottles left of this great beer series if you would like to try it.

#319 Fifty Fifty Eclipse 2011 Brewmaster’s Grand Cru Blend

Fifty Fifty Eclipse 2011 Brewmaster’s Grand Cru Blend. An American Double/ Imperial Stout. 9.5% ABV 75 IBU.

SMELL:  Chocolate, vanilla, coffee, malt, and bourbon.

TASTE:  Strong chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt and coffee flavors with bourbon and wood tones.

DRINK-ABILITY: Another excellent stout by Fifty Fifty. It is super balanced and has roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and coffee flavors with just the right amount of bourbon and wood tones in the background. Since I am trying all the stouts in the Fifty Fifty collection I probably should have saved this bottle till last as this was the Grand Cru and  is normally the best. After trying the Elijah Craig 20 year and this beer I can say that I definitely like the Grand Cru more as it is a blend from selected barrels of 2011 Eclipse chosen by the Brewmaster and also the bourbon tone seemed less harsh in this beer because of the blending.  Again this beer is a little pricey at $29.85 for 22oz’s but worth every penny and they make 5 more variants to try ! I was lucky enough to get this bottle and the rest of the 5 different types of this beer (  Elijah Craig 12 year Barrel , Four Roses Single Barrel,  Rittenhouse Rye Barrel,  Brandy Barrel Blend, and Elijah Craig 20 Year ) from Trenton Road Takeout, they still have a couple bottles left of this great beer series if you would like to try it.

RATING:   9 out of 10.

#318 Fifty Fifty Eclipse 2011 Elijah Craig 20 Year Barrel

Fifty Fifty Eclipse 2011 Elijah Craig 20 Year Barrel.  An American Double/ Imperial Stout. 9.5% ABV 75 IBU.

SMELL:  Chocolate, malt, sugar, wood, and bourbon.

TASTE:  Strong chocolate, bourbon, malt, and wood tones.

DRINK-ABILITY: A excellent stout. This beer is super thick and you can really taste the fact that this beer was aged in a 20 year old bourbon barrel for 180 days. It is super balanced and has the wood and alcohol flavors of a fine bourbon but not enough to overpower the roasted malt, chocolate, and espresso flavors that you expect in a great stout. Its definitely one of the best stouts I have ever had on par with Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout, Deshutes The Abyss, Cigar City Marshall Zhukov’s Russian Imperial Stout, Southern Tier (Creme Brulee, Javah, Mokah, and Choklat), Firestone Walker Parobola, Port Brewing Older Viscosity, North Coast Old Rasputin, Great Divide Old Aged Yeti (Chocolate and Espresso), Alesmith Speedway Stout, Rogue Double Chocolate Stout, and Dogfish Head World Wide Stout. The only thing about this beer is that its a little pricey at $29.85 for 22oz’s but worth every penny and they make 5 more variants to try ! I was lucky enough to get this bottle and the rest of the 5 different types of this beer (  Elijah Craig 12 year Barrel , Four Roses Single Barrel,  Rittenhouse Rye Barrel,  Brandy Barrel Blend, and Brewmaster’s Grand Cru Blend ) from Trenton Road Takeout, they still have a couple bottles left of this great beer series if you would like to try it.

RATING:   9 out of 10.
